Mungkin bagi Anda yang ingin beralih dari PC ke laptop, belum mengetahui cara-cara memilih laptop yang baik. Banyak berbagai merk Laptop beredar di pasaran. Hal ini akan membuat Kita menjadi pusing untuk memilihnya. Nah, artikel kali ini akan mengulas cara memilih laptop yang baik agar tidak menyesal nantinya.

Pada dasarnya, semua laptop adalah sama. Mengapa saya bilang demikian? Itu karena spesifikasi laptop, sama-sama menggunakan processor Intel atau AMD. Meskipun demikian, tetap kita harus selektif memilih merk laptop dengan baik. Berikut vendor-vendor laptop internasional diurut berdasarkan rangkingnya:

Ketujuh laptop diatas adalah termasuk jenis-jenis laptop terpercaya. Namun, kita juga harus mengetahui kelemahan dan kelebihan masing-masing vendor.

·         Apple Macintosh

Laptop ini menggunakan system operasi Macintosh. Kelebihan dari laptop ini adalah spesifikasi yang tinggi dan model  yang elegan. Namun kelemahannya, laptop ini sulit sekali didapati di kota-kota kecil. Selain itu, harga yang ditawarkan juga cukup tinggi. Juga Sistem Operasi yang digunakan laptop ini memiliki cara kerja yang rumit. Sangat tidak dianjurkan memilih laptop ini apabila masih dalam status amatir.

·         Sony Vaio

Kebanyakan dari Laptop Sony Vaio memiliki Sistem Operasi paket langsung di laptopnya. Maksudnya, rata-rata dari laptop ini sudah ada Genuine Windowsnya. Selain itu, Laptop ini memiliki design yang menawan, performa yang tinggi, dan spesifikasi yang lengkap. Sama seperti Apple, Sony Vaio cukup menguras budget. Untuk mendapatkan spesifikasi standart, Anda harus merogoh kocek sekitar 15 juta rupiah. Tetapi, laptop ini sudah banyak dijumpai di kota-kota kecil.

·         Toshiba

Bisa dikatakan Toshiba adalah Laptop Bagus Yang Ekonomis. Bagi Anda yang ingin mempunyai laptop bagus yang ekonomis, Toshiba bisa menjawab. Mengapa Toshiba terkesan murah? Kebanyakan dari Toshiba tidak disertai Sistem Operasi bawaan. Jadi Anda harus menginstalnya sendiri. Kelemahan dari laptop ini adalah rata-rata design adalah design yang klasik. Maksudnya berbentuk kotak. Sudah banyak beredar di pasaran.

·         Hewlett-Packard, Compaq

Mungkin Anda bertanya-tanya, mengapa HP dan Compaq dijadikan satu di artikel kali ini? Itu dikarenakan Compaq merupakan bagian produksi dari Hewlett-Packard Company. Kelebihan dari Laptop HP (biasanya jenis pavilion) adalah model dan design yang elegan. Selain itu, tombol yang digunakan menggunakan sensor lampu. Tombol yang dimaksudkan adalah tombol untuk memperbesar volume, mengatur brightness, dan lain-lain. Kelemahan dari laptop ini adalah, kebanyakan terbuat dari logam. Sehingga terkadang

·         Compaq

Memberikan efek setruman kepada Anda. Selain itu, performanya rata-rata tidak terlalu istimewa. Tetapi, masih dalam keadaan standart. Bisa dikatakan bahwa HP Pavillion adalah Laptop dengan Design yang keren. Sedangkan Compaq (biasanya Presario), performa yang ditawarkan rata-rata sangat istimewa. Kebanyakan laptop Compaq sudah menggunakan processor Core (walaupun terkadang ada juga yang Pentium). Kelemahan dari Laptop ini adalah modelnya yang klasik. Sehingga laptop ini tidak cocok untuk dibuat gaya. Bisa dikatakan bahwa Compaq adalah Laptop dengan Otak yang encer.

·         Dell

Laptop ini merupakan laptop yang paling awet diantara semua. Laptop ini bisa bertahan hingga 6 tahun (hasil pakai yang terawat). Selain itu, performanya juga sangat istimewa. Harganya pun cukup terjangkau. Kelemahan dari laptop ini adalah jarangnya penggunaan VGA card pada laptopnya. Hal ini membuat para gamer tidak memilih laptop ini. Selain itu, bentuk dan desainnya jelek sehingga laptop ini terlihat lawas. Namun, jika tidak digunakan untuk gaya, kelemahan ini tidak akan jadi masalah bagi Anda.

·         Asus

Laptop Para Gamer. Mungkin julukan inilah yang pantas disandang untuk ASUS. Hampir semua laptop ASUS dilengkapi dengan video card. Selain itu, hamper semua games direkomendasikan oleh ASUS. Jadi jika kamu gamer sejati, lebih baik memilih laptop ini. Kelemahan dari laptop ini adalah performa yang lambat. Jika digunakan untuk membuka program berat sejenis Corel dan PhotoShop seringkali terjadi hang. Sangat tidak cocok digunakan untuk pegawai kantoran. Karena akan mempersusah kerja Anda.

·         Ienovo

Nama baru. Namun jangan diremehkan. Vendor yang satu ini, sama seperti Sony Vaio dan Toshiba. Namun jauh lebih murah lagi. Saya tidak berani berbicara banyak. Karena saya tidak pernah melakukan uji coba terhadap laptop ini.

Setelah mengetahui vendor-vendor laptop, berikut hal-hal lainnya agar kita tidak menyesal ketika membeli laptop:

·         Pastikan membeli laptop yang baru. Karena biasanya laptop second hand perlu dipertanyakan kualitasnya

·         Jika terpaksa membeli second, pastikan membeli di toko terpercaya

·         Jika membeli baru, pastikan laptop dalam keadaan tersegel baik luar maupun dalam. Karena apabila segel dalam terbuka, harga jual akan jatuh

·         Pastikan kartu garansi telah dikirim ke vendor atau produk Anda telah terigistrasi

·         Beli laptop sesuai kebutuhan Anda. Pilih spesifikasi yang cocok dengan Anda

·         Apabila Laptop sudah ada OS bawaannya, pastikan disertai segel untuk mengecek keasliannya

·         Cek kelengkapan perangkat laptop sebelum meninggalkan toko

·         Bila perlu, belilah tas yang bagus dan tebal. Hal ini akan mencegah benturan kepada laptop

Laptop Apple

Apple, atau lebih tepatnya adalah "Apple Computer Incorporated", adalah sebuah perusahaan komputer berbasis di Cupertino, California. Sedangkan Mac atau Macintosh adalah produk-produk komputer yang dibuat oleh Apple Computer Inc (line of personal computer designed, developed, manufactured, and marketed by Apple Computer).

68K merupakan Mikroprosesor CISC, & PowerPC merupakan mikroprosessor RISC (Reduced Instruction Set Computing). Sekarang, komputer Macintosh sedang beralih menggunakan prosessor Intel.

Dinamakan Macintosh, mengambil nama jenis apel yang disukai Jef Raskin, Macintosh diluncurkan pada Januari 1984 dengan sebuah iklan Super Bowl yang sangat terkenal.

Sejarah Asus

Nama Asus mungkin sudah terdengar sangat familiar di telinga pengguna komputer tanah air termasuk saya sebagai pengguna setianya . Perusahaan asal Taiwan tersebut mengandalkan inovasi untuk  tumbuh dan berkembang hingga menjadi raksasa ekonomi seperti sekarang. Inilah sekelumit cerita tentang salah satu pionir ternama di dunia komputer .

History

Kisah Asus bermula pada tahun 1989, ketika empat insinyur komputer, yaitu Wayne Hsieh, Ted Hsu, MT Liao dan TH Tung berniat mendirikan perusahaan baru untuk memajukan industri TI di Negara Taiwan. Nama yang mereka pilih adalah “Pegasus” yang diambil dari sebutan untuk makhluk mitos asal Yunani. Pada perkembangannya, nama tersebut dipendekkan menjadi “Asus” agar bisa tampil di urutan awal sesuai alphabet.

Berbeda dengan sekarang, kala itu Asus yang berkantor di sebuah apartemen kecil di Taipei, Taiwan, bergerak di bidang konsultasi komputer dan tidak memproduksi hardware buatan sendiri seperti sekarang ini . Namun, setelah berhasil membuat dan menjual motherboard untuk prosesor Intel 486 pada akhir dekade 80-an, perusahaan ini mulai berkonsentrasi ke konstruksi hardware.

Dalam perjalanannya, perusahaan yang mulai “go public” pada tahun 2005 ini tumbuh semakin pesat . Motherboard Asus terpasang di 29,2% komputer desktop yang terjual sepanjang tahun 2009. Di tahun yang sama Asus membukukan pendapatan senilai USD21,2 miliar. Untuk mengefisiensikan kinerja perusahaan, pada tahun 2007 Asus membagi diri menjadi tiga perusahaan berbeda, yaitu Pegatron (berfokus pada produksi komponen PC dan perangkat OEM), Unihan (manufaktur perangkat non-PC), serta Asus sendiri yang berkonsentrasi penuh pada produksi notebook dan  sistem komputer utuh.

Selama puluhan tahun berkecimpung dalam bisnis hardware komputer, Asus telah menelurkan berbagai macam produk. Saat ini saja terdapat  puluhan jenis motherboard yang tersedia. Belum lagi jika menghitung jenis-jenis produk lainnya. Secara keseluruhan, Asus membuat motherboard, graphics card, notebook, netbook, produk networking sever dan workstation, monitor, produk multimedia, optical storage, peripheral,dan aksesoris komputer.

Belakangan ini, Asus rajin membuat inovasi perangkat mobile. Dalam bidang tersebut, salah satu produk Asus yang paling iconic adalah Eee PC, komputer portabel dengan ukuran fisik lebih kecil dan berat lebih ringan daripada notebook biasa yang  disebut sebagai “netbook”. Istilah “netbook” sendiri sebelumnya sudah pernah digunakan oleh salah satu produsen perangkat mobile asal Amerika Serikat. Namun, dalam perkembangannya, istilah tersebut menjadi sebutan umum dan lazim digunakan untuk mengacu pada perangkat mobile sekelas Asus Eee PC yang diperkenalkan pertama kali pada tahun 2007. Tak lama setelah kemunculan Eee PC, banyak produsen lain yang mengikuti langkah asus dan memproduksi perangkat serupa.

Eee PC generasi pertama dilengkapi dengan prosesor Celeron 800 MHz, memori 512 MB, flash memory untuk storage sebesar 2 GB, serta OS berbasis Linux.

Asus juga memproduksi ponsel, termasuk smartphone bermerk Garmin-Asus yang dibuat melalui kerjasama dengan produsen GPS device, Garmin.

Perkembangan hardware komputer buatan Asus juga terus berjalan seiring dengan pengembangan perangkat mobile. Tahun 2006, Asus memperkenalkan seri produk motherboard “Republic of Gamers” yang khusus ditujukan untuk kalangan pemain game komputer. Lini motherboard ini dilengkapi dengan berbagai feature terbaik dari Asus ketika itu, seperti dukungan konfigurasi multi-GPU, soundcard SupremeFX, sistem pendingin heatpipe, dan kemampuan overclocking tinggi.

Selain motherboard, salah satu jenis komponen hardware yang menjadi spesialisasi Asus adalah graphics card. Pada pertengahan 1990-an, perusahaan ini memperkenalkan seri graphics card berbasis chip grafis Rage 3D dari ATI. Setelah itu, muncul graphics card Asus yang menggunakan chip grafis dari produsen lain, yaitu NVIDIA, yang sedang mulai naik daun ketika itu. Lini graphics card Asus terus berlanjut hingga sekarang. Produk-produk lain pun, seperti notebook, peripheral jaringan, optical drive, hingga netbook dan smart phone mulai dikembangkan oleh Asus.

Graphics card Asus berbasis chip ATI Rage 3D II dengan interface PCI (atas) dan NVIDIA Riva 128 dengan interface AGP (bawah), muncul pada paruh kedua dekade 90-an.

Beberapa feature khusus, seperti voltage tweak yang memungkinkan modifikasi nilai voltase dan HSF DirectCu yang memiliki kemampuan transfer panas lebih baik dar HSF biasa, turut diterapkan di jajaran graphics card high-end buatan produsen ini. Asus pun membuat beberapa graphics card “special edition”, seperi seri Mars dan Ares yang dilengkapi dengan chip grafis terkencang pada masanya.

Dan untuk "game series" Asus tak mau ketinggalan dengan vendor-vendor besar lainnya . Nama Lamborghini tak lain terinspirasi oleh pabrikan mobil sport yang eksis dalam penciptaan supercar yang sangat fenomenal . Embel-embel Lamborghini tersebut juga bermaksud untuk mempublikasikan kepada para pecinta game PC,bahwa Serie VX7 ini adalah laptop yang sehati untuk para penikmat game PC dunia . Dari sudut-sudut tampilannya VX7 memang tampil elegant dan memberi kesan kokoh dari Logo Lamborghini dan bentuk laptop itu sendiri yang cenderung mirip dengan salah satu mobil fenomenal keluaran Lamborghini .
